A 30-second promotion of Wuhan hot dry noodles on the big screen in New York's Times Square has whetted the appetite of overseas "Wuhaners" for the city's hallmark snack food.

A Wuhan-born Chinese student in New York posted the photos of the promotion screen displaying oil coated noodles, covered with sesame sauce, chopped green onion and chopped brined long bean with Chinese characters in Wuhan dialect saying "have you had meals, New York?" on her Weibo account. The Weibo thread got "likes" from New York's Wuhan community.

The advertiser, a Wuhan online marketing financial company, declined to reveal the price of the campaign.

According to reports, advertising on the big screen costs $500-1,000 per minute. The noodle promotion was played 10 times on May 1.
