Drunk driver outsmarts himself

Never try to be clever in front of the traffic police, or you may face even more severe punishment.

A man in Youyang, Chongqing municipality was detained for two months after he refused to take an alcohol breath test while driving home, Chongqing Evening news reported on Friday.

The man, surnamed Zhang, had gone drinking with two friends when he was stopped by the police for a breath test. Fearing punishment, he suddenly took a bottle of wine from the back of his car and drank it up in front of the police.

He told the police that the alcohol on his breath was from drinking the bottle of wine and not from drinking before driving. However, this little trick backfired, and his charge was made even more severe, from "driving after drinking" to "drunk driving".
