A three-month-old baby born with a life-threatening health defect are now receiving help from Good Samaritans.

The infant, Guo Enze, from a poor family in North China's Shanxi province, was diagnosed with an imperforate anus, meaning his anus is naturally blocked and cannot excrete properly. Each day, he eats little and sleeps for only seven hours. The disease has left his body skinny and wizened.

After media reports in the past two days, many people donated money for the boy and some charity organizations offered to pay for the follow-up care. Guo was eventually sent to a hospital in Taiyuan, capital city of Shanxi, on Wednesday.

According to the doctor, the surgery for the boy will have three phases and take place over a year.
