Honesty box bookshop opens in Nanjing
A bookshop was set up without the costs of a cashier and working staff recently in Nanjing, Jiangsu province. It runs on an honesty system, where readers can pick the books they like and drop the money into a lockbox by themselves.
Since lots of people were attracted to this honesty bookshop, the books were sold very fast, and it added a few employees to sort and add new books.
Books offered in this store are relatively old, so readers only need to pay 30 percent of their original price. After the first two days of opening, about 800 books were sold and 2,400 yuan ($387) was collected which is more or less the right amount.
The bookshop is in front of the Popular Bookmall at Xinjiekou for the first ten days, and then it will move around Nanjing city.
