Should selfie sticks be banned?

I don't understand why someone using a selfie stick would bother anyone. I take selfies since I don't have a friend with me to take pictures with. It's a nice way for a single guy to have a memory of the day. I'm not sure what could be annoying about that. Why should anyone ban it if I am using a selfie stick in a manner that is not obnoxious or obstructing the traffic?
