Among the world's 100 largest banks, China takes the top spot with 13 in total, while the US comes second with 11. Canada is at third with six, followed by the UK, Japan, Spain, and France, according to Forbes Global 2000.

China's "Big Four" banks, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, China Construction Bank, Agricultural Bank of China, and Bank of China occupy the top four spots this year.

The Forbes Global 2000 is a comprehensive list of the world's largest, most powerful public companies, as measured by a composite score of revenues, profits, assets and market value.

Sales: $56.4 billion

Profits: $7.7 billion

Assets: $1,532.3 billion

Market value: $109.4 billion
