Monk Comes Down the Mountain
An innocent monk with superb kung fu skills leaves an isolated mountain for a city in the 1920s. He becomes involved in conspiracies and encounters a series of strange characters.
Director Chen Kaige, who won the Palm d'Or at Cannes for Farewell, My Concubine, said this is one of his largest scale films to date. It took three years to complete and was jointly produced by two mainland entertainment groups and Columbia Pictures.
