Xi Jinping to meet KMT honorary chairman

BEIJING - Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, will meet visiting Kuomintang Honorary Chairman Lien Chan in Beijing this week, a spokeswoman announced on Monday.

Liaison mechanism to be set up across Straits |
Fan Liqing, of the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, made the remarks at a press conference.
Lien, also chairman of a foundation on cross-Straits peaceful development, will lead a delegation from Taiwan to visit Beijing from Monday to Thursday.
During the visit, Lien will visit sites related to the city's urban construction and countryside, Fan said.
