Mainlanders' visits to Taiwan surpass 10 million

BEIJING - Visits of Chinese mainlanders to Taiwan have surpassed 10 million since the Taiwan tourism market was opened to mainland tourists in 2008, latest data showed.
From 2008 to Nov 6, 2014, mainland tourists to Taiwan who booked with travel agencies totalled nearly 8.3 million while travels made by individuals from the mainland reached 1.72 million, according to the data from the China National Tourism Administration.
As of Nov 6, the number of mainland travelers to Taiwan reached 2.75 million this year, the data showed.
Meanwhile, Taiwan tourists to the mainland hit 3.97 million in the Jan-Sept period.
