Shanghai cancels lantern festival
The annual lantern festival display at Shanghai's Yuyuan Garden has been canceled out of safety concerns, the Shanghai Tourism Administration said on its website on Friday.
Yuyuan Lantern Festival, which is one of the two most popular Spring Festival events along with Guyi Lantern Festival, has been successfully held for two decades..
Guyi festival was canceled a few days ago after the deadly Shanghai stampede on New Year's Eve.
Shanghai has increased security to better manage crowd but is still haunted by the shadow of the incident.
