Sudden growth spurt has soldier missing parade

Growth spurts are rare in adults, but are usually cause for celebration if they happen. Sadly, this was not the case for one female soldier.

A female honorable guard missed out on the military parade for the 60th anniversary of the People's Republic of China six years ago due to her unexpected growth spurt, the Liberation Army Daily reported.

Cheng Cheng, who was previously selected to be the leader of the female guard of honor, was unable to make an appearance in the grand parade because she grew 1.8 centimeters.

There are quite a few criteria for selecting PLA honorable guards, like the 2014 rule that female guards' average height should be 1.72 meters.

Next up, read about two amorous thieves who kissed at the scene of a crime.
