BANGKOK - The Race of Champions has been postponed indefinitely because of the prolonged political disruption in Thailand, its organizers said Monday.
The race was scheduled from December 14 to 15 at the Rajamangala National Stadium on the outskirts of capital Bangkok.
It will be postponed until the political situation returns to normal, the organizing committee said in a statement.
The event may be held in March, according to governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand Kanokphand Chulakasem, one of the event's organizers.
The race has been held throughout the world for 25 consecutive years and the committee expects to repeat the success of the 2012 event in Bangkok on another date, the statement said.
Pro-government Red Shirts rallied in the stadium on Saturday. After clashes with anti-government protesters, the rally was called off and Red Shirts members departed from the stadium.
