InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG®), one of the world's leading hotel companies, wrapped up its annual IHG® Foundation Week in Greater China today. This was after a week-long series of charitable activities that started on Sept 19, which included a bike ride across Hainan province for senior executives. More than 200 participants, including employees, sponsors and media friends, gathered at the Holiday Inn Resort Sanya Yalong Bay at a beachside sports event to raise funds and awareness for the newly-launched charitable fund, IHG Foundation. Throughout the week, IHG employees around China participated in over 200,000 activities, with IHG making a donation to the IHG Foundation on behalf of everyone who participated.
Kenneth Macpherson, CEO of IHG Greater China, along with six fellow executives and one hotel owner, set an example by completing a cycling challenge from Haikou to Sanya in two and a half days. The team rode a total of 350 kilometers, visiting IHG hotels along the way to encourage employees to do their part to support charity.
