NEW DELHI - At least four people were killed and 32 others injured in a road mishap in the northern Indian state of Punjab, a senior police official said Thursday.
"The mishap happened when a mini-truck in which the victims were traveling fell into a canal near Jhamluti village on the Rupnagar-Chamkaur Sahib road Wednesday, after the driver lost control of the speeding vehicle," he said, on condition of anonymity.
While four people were killed on the spot, the injured have been rushed to a local hospital, the official said.
A probe has been ordered into the incident, he added.
