Flavors of Mexico
Flavors of Mexico is a food festival co-hosted by the Embassy of Mexico and Hilton Beijing. It will take place from April 9-23 in the hotel's One East and Elements restaurants. During the two-week food festival, guests will be able to enjoy authentic Mexican food at lunch and dinner prepared by guest Chef Eduardo Perez and the Hilton Beijing Executive Chef Andreas Bruck. Several events will take place during the festival to offer Beijingers and local diners an opportunity to experience Mexican culture, such as Tequila tasting and Salsa dancing classes. Chef Eduardo will create a variety of authentic flavors, by using local ingredients and specific sauces, such as Huitlacoche (a fungus that grows on corn plants, often served in soups), Achiote (a spice mixture made of red chilies), Epazote (aromatic herb).Diners will savor the exquisite dishes, by sampling the new trends in authentic, quality Mexican haute cuisine, well matched with Mexican wines, beer and tequila. Culinary highlights include Ceviche made with fresh fish cooked in lemon with tomatoes, onion and chilies to start, and the traditional Pollo Pibil, chicken legs and thighs in Recado Rojo (chili sauce) smothered with achiote paste and orange juice and slow cooked in banana leaves for mains. The dessert selections include Pan de Elote (corn cake), and Churros (fried sweet dough with sugar).
