Suicide bombing kills 25, wounds 27 others in Afghanistan

One suicide attacker on Sunday drove a car laden with explosive materials and exploded it near a convoy of Afghan police, leaving 25 people dead, 27 others injured in southern Afghan province of Uruzgan, an official said.

Juma Gul Humat, the provincial police chief confirmed that the suicide attack targeting Afghan police convoy patrolling in a crowd bazaar in Dihrawud district of Uruzgan province claimed over 20 civilian and five policemen.

"27 others, all civilians, were wounded," Humat said.

No one has yet to claim responsibility for the incident.

A total of 909 people including 712 civilians have been killed or wounded in suicide blasts across Afghanistan this year while over 250 civilians have been killed or injured in various incidents over the past week.
