Bomb attack on police van kills 1, injures 13 in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD -- A bomb attack on a police van, escorting a prisoners bus, killed a passerby and injured 13 others including five policemen, in Pakistan's northwest Monday, police said.

The private NNI news agency quoted the police as saying that the bomb was detonated through a remote control at a main square at the city of Kohat as the passenger bus was taking prisoners to court.

A police officer said that the target was the police mobile van.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Suspected militants regularly launching attacks on security personnel in the country's troubled northwest.

A woman police constable was also injured in the attack, who is stated to be in critical condition.
