Video of best man knocking bride into pool draws internet fans
(Agencies)
Updated: 2008-10-24 11:17 A home video of the best man at a US wedding knocking the bride and the pastor into a swimming pool has become an online phenomenon. At the crucial moment in the ceremony, when asked for the rings, he is seen to stumble and fall forward, crashing into the bride. In an attempt to prevent her tumbling into the pool behind them, the pastor is pulled into the water as well. The clip swiftly became one of the most watched videos on internet site YouTube after being featured by eleven-time Emmy award winner Ellen DeGeneres on her US talk show. The video was temporarily removed from YouTube, apparently as a result of claims that it was staged. Although it has now been replaced, many users still regard it as a fake, one writing that “[the pastor] says ‘Oh my God,’ then reaches to grab her, but she hasn’t started to fall backwards yet. It isn’t till he reaches for her that she goes backwards. Definitely a hoax.” Another user questioned, “Why does it look like the pastor just threw himself in?” Other comments have focussed on either commiserating with the bride or laughing at the unfortunate best man. One wondered whether he had been trying “to pick up that chick in the yellow he was staring at” and another just wanted to “hear the best man’s toast at the reception.”
