Obama Supporters Watch YouTube at House Parties
(Agencies)
Updated: 2008-12-14 15:19 Obama supporters are gathering at house meetings across the country this weekend to energize their local networks, discuss ways to help the incoming administration, and plan community service projects.
The official emphasis on community service, rather than political action like campaigning or lobbying, may be a necessity at this point. The lists and sprawling supporter networks from during the campaign have not been transferred to a post-campaign entity, such as the DNC or a new organization, and Obama's team wants to avoid promoting any activity that could be construed as electioneering. Meanwhile, over at the transition team's YouTube channel, President-Elect Obama delivered his weekly address, naming Shaun Donovan as his pick for Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. Donovan worked at HUD during the Clinton administration, in addition to stints in academia and New York City government. (Both videos are below.) "To stem the rising tide of foreclosures and strengthen our economy," Obama said, "I've asked my economic team to develop a bold plan that will dramatically increase the number of families who can stay in their homes." |
