NAIROBI -- More than 50 people were killed and dozens of others injured when an oil spill from a crashed truck burst into flames in Kenya on Saturday, local police and the Red Cross said.

The incident occurred near the central town of Molo, several hours' drive from the Kenyan capital of Nairobi. Hundreds of people had crowded around the crashed truck in search of free fuel when the spill caught fire.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
