Tornado causes injuries in south-central Okla.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Authorities say a tornado injured people and caused extensive damage in a south-central Oklahoma town. Another tornado damaged buildings in and around Oklahoma City.


Clouds roll over Oklahoma City, Okla. Tuesday afternoon, February 10, 2009. A tornado damaged homes and businesses and knocked down power lines Tuesday afternoon as severe storms moved through central Oklahoma. No serious injuries were reported. [Agencies] 

Ardmore Emergency Management director Amber Wilson said Tuesday night she didn't know how severe the injuries were. But she said the property damage in Ardmore was "extensive."

Wilson says officials in other parts of Carter County were trying to get ambulances and other first responders into the town.

Another tornado tore through the Oklahoma City metropolitan area in the afternoon. It caused power outages and damaged buildings, cars and property. Only minor injuries were reported.
