NEW DELHI -- Four children of a family were killed in a fire and another was injured in a village in the Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh, central India, early Saturday morning, reported the private Indo-Asian News Service Sunday.

The children who were killed were two brothers and two sisters who did homework at night by candle light. They went to sleep without blowing out the candle, so the fire from the candle spread to other parts of the room, causing the inferno, said the report.

The eldest son of the house, 16-year-old Mohammad Ali, was the only child of the family who managed to escape from the burning room with injuries from burning, said the report.
