Bissau army says will obey democratic institutions

Updated: 2009-03-02 21:14 BISSAU -- Guinea-Bissau's armed forces command said on Monday the situation in the West African country was under control after the killing of President Joao Bernardo Vieira, and pledged to respect democratic institutions.
"A commission of military chiefs has been set up to manage the crisis," the statement said. |
