PYONGYANG -- The official Rodong Sinmun daily newspaper of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) lashed out at Japan's claim on a disputed islet on Monday.

The islet is called Tok islet in Korean and Takeshima in Japanese. Both the Koreans and Japanese claim the islet to be their territory.

Japan observed the "day of Takeshima" on February 22, which was a move of the Japanese to prepare for a re-invasion of Korea, a commentary carried by the Rodong Sinmun said.

The disputed islet is now controlled by South Korea.
