SEOUL -- Volvo, one of the world's largest automakers, will recall 1,247 sedans in South Korea due to manufacturing defects, the government said Wednesday.

The model subject to the recall is the New S80 D5 with a diesel engine produced and imported to the local market between August 31, 2006 and August 14 of last year, according to the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs.

The recall-subject vehicles are known to have defects in their air-conditioners which have problems in letting out water, and in turn could affect the car's electric system and cause fire in the world case, the ministry added.
