Mongolia to enhance defense cooperation with India

ULAN BATOR -- Mongolia's Deputy Prime Minister Miyeegombo Enkhbold said on Thursday when meeting with visiting Indian military delegation that Mongolia hoped to enhance defense cooperation with India, according to his office on Friday.

Stressing ties with India are important in Mongolia's foreign policies and security policies, Enkhbold said Mongolia hoped that the two countries would enhance cooperation on military information and that India would support Mongolia's participation in UN peacekeeping operations.

He also said Mongolia would support India in its bid for permanent membership of the UN Security Council.

Mongolia and India signed agreements on defense cooperation in 2001.
