A chartered China Southern Airlines aircraft touched down at 7:04 a.m. local time (1204 GMT) in Mexico City, bringing 70 tons of supplies that included masks, gloves and disinfecting devices.

The first batch of medical supplies from China, which was the earliest international assistance to Mexico, arrived in the country on May 1 and was received in person by Mexican President Felipe Calderon.

The Chinese government on Wednesday pledged US$5 million worth of humanitarian aid to Mexico -- 1 million dollars in cash and 4 million dollars in medical supplies.
