US troops target poppy farming in Afghanistan
An Afghan boy harvests opium in a poppy field as US Marines patrol a village in the Golestan district of Farah province, May 5, 2009. US commanders are planning to cut off Taliban's main source of money, the country's multimillion-dollar opium crop, by pouring thousands of troops into three provinces that bankroll much of the group's operations, The New York Times reported.
