Indian Air Force MIG-27 fighter craft crashed

NEW DELHI -- An Indian Air Force fighter MIG-27 Friday crashed in a village in Jodhpur in the western Indian state of Rajasthan, a senior Indian Defense Ministry official said.

"Though the pilot ejected safely at the time of the crash around 08:30 am in the morning, seven people of Konkani village are known to have sustained injuries," Indian Defense Ministry Spokesman Lt. Col. N. N. Joshi told the media.

He said that the pilot was on a routine practice when the mishap happened.

"We will ascertain the exact cause of the crash after the IAF completes its probe into the accident," he said.
