SINGAPORE -- Malaysia and Singapore have formed a joint committee to discuss the proposal of building a bridge to link eastern Johor and Singapore, local media reported on Friday.

According to TV broadcaster Channel NewsAsia, the announcement was made at a joint news conference by Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak and Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana, Singapore President's Office.

Najib is in Singapore for an two-day introductory visit. Both prime ministers are expected to discuss ways to enhance cooperation through the Iskandar Malaysia project, where Singapore is now the third largest investor.
