A(H1N1) flu death toll rises to 80 in Mexico

Updated: 2009-05-23 08:25 MEXICO CITY-- The Mexican Health Ministry on Friday confirmed that the death toll linked to A(H1N1) flu rose from 78 to 80, while the confirmed infections totaled 4,174 cases so far.
Of the infected people, 56.3 percent were female and 43.7 percent male, while 77.5 percent of the infected patients were between 20 and 54 years old, the ministry said. The ministry also said that the cases of H1N1 flu virus are distributed in the 32 states of the country, and the most affected states are Mexico City, San Luis Potosi, Hidalgo, State of Mexico and Veracruz. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), there have been confirmed 11,370 cases of human flu in 41 countries, and US is the country with more cases with a total of 5,764. |
