World Beard and Moustache Competition in Alaska

The hairy winners of the bi-annual World Beard and Moustache Competition (WBMC) were announced on Satruday in Anchorage, Alaska. Almost 300 contestants competed in the 2009 World Beard and Moustache Championship. After a few bristly rounds of heats 18 winners were crowned champs for their facial fleeces which ranged from the imperial to the ludicrous. Phil Olsen, founder and captain of Beard Team USA said: "It was a great year for beards and tashes. The competition was stiff." Over 300 of the beard and mustache elite gathered from over 11 countries for the 9th WBMC competition which featured a variety of categories from the delicate Dali moustache to the outrageous full beard freestyle.
