SEOUL -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea appears to be preparing to test-fire short-range missiles, the Yonhap news agency reported Tuesday citing a South Korean defense source.

The DPRK has banned ships from waters off its western coast, the source said, adding the missile test is likely to take place "either today or tomorrow."

The DPRK said on Monday it had successfully conducted an underground nuclear test.
