Romania announced on Wednesday its first confirmed case of A(H1N1) flu in a 30-year-old woman. The two new A(H1N1) cases are the one-year-old child and father of the woman.

The woman, who had returned from the United States with her two children on May 23, went to the hospital Tuesday with a fever and was diagnosed with the new virus, said Health Minister Ion Bazac Wednesday.

"We have sent samples for further tests in London, though the virus has been confirmed in Romania," Bazac said.

The minister said the samples were sent to London because the procedure is mandatory, but that the virus was 99 percent confirmed.

Health officials, Bazac said, are working to identify all of the people the woman came in contact with since she left for Romania.
