JAKARTA -- Two earthquakes measuring over 5 on the Richter scale rocked two provinces in eastern Indonesia, respectively on Friday, the national news agency Antara reported.

According to the meteorological and geophysics office's data, one earthquake hit Gorontalo province of Sulawesi at 2:33 am Western Indonesia Time (WIB) (1933 GMT, Thursday). The quake's epicenter was located at 0.21 degrees southern latitude, 122.80 degrees eastern longitude, and at a depth of 23 km, the report said.

The second one measuring 5.8 the Richter scale jolted Ambon of Maluku Island at 7:58 am (0058 GMT) Western Indonesian Time (WIB) . The quake's epicenter was located at 3.76 degrees southern latitude, 127.66 degrees eastern longitude, and at a depth of 10 km below sea level, around 57 km southwest of Ambon.
