Updated: 2009-06-02 16:22 SINGAPORE -- A new program aiming to promote cross-cultural understanding between students in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) will be launched in Singapore, the country's Media Development Authority said on Tuesday.
This project is endorsed by the ASEAN Committee on Culture and Information (COCI), and will begin in Singapore in June before being rolled out to ASEAN member countries. "Raising ASEAN awareness amongst the youth is part of our efforts to build the ASEAN Community by 2015," said Dr Soeung Rathchavy, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community, adding that the modern technologies will help youths in the region get to know ASEAN better, deepen their understanding and appreciation of the cultures, social traditions and values in ASEAN. |
