Pyongyang: The top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong Il inspected the Korean People's Army Navy Unit 597, the official news agency KCNA reported on Friday.

Kim visited a library, an education room and the dormitories of the soldiers, the report said, without specifying the date of Kim's visit.

The DPRK leader praised the unit for carrying out sound political and cultural education for the soldiers.

He later posed for photographs with the soldiers, the report said.
