HOBOKEN, N.J.: The National Transportation Safety Board says three of nine presumed victims of a helicopter-plane collision over the Hudson River have been recovered.
A small plane collided with a New York City sightseeing helicopter carrying Italian tourists over the Hudson on Saturday around noon. The accident scattered debris in the water and forced people on the New Jersey waterfront to scamper for cover. Authorities believe all nine people aboard the two aircraft were killed. Investigators have talked to a pilot who witnessed the crash. The pilot saw a single-engine aircraft approaching the helicopter and radioed the helicopter a warning but got no response. |
