JAKARTA: Indonesia's police chief says a suspected terrorist infiltrated the national airline in a plot to carry out an attack.
The suspect identified as Syahrir had been recruited and documents seized by police uncovered a plan to carry out a "bigger attack" on Indonesia's airline sector. The suspect no longer works at Garuda but remains at large. Danuri declined to provide further details. The bombings at the J.W. Marriott and Ritz-Carlton hotels on July 17 killed seven people and wounded more than 50. The attacks ended a four-year lull in terrorism in the world's most populous Muslim-majority nation. |
