The airstrikes targeted the two smuggling tunnels under Gaza's southern border with Egypt in Rafah and the training site for the military wing of Islamic Hamas movement in Khan Younis city.

An F-16 jet dropped three bombs against one of the tunnel, destroying it completely, according to witnesses.

The raid against the training camp of Ezz el-Deen al-Qassam brigades caused severe damages to the location, they said.

An Israeli army spokesman said the attacks came after Palestinian militants fired a missile into Western Negev area late Wednesday. The home-made rocket landed in an open area.

Israel bombs Gaza tunnels from time to time which are used to bring in weapons, food and other daily necessities due to an Israeli blockade on the coastal enclave.
