LONDON: Four men are due to appear in a London court charged with terrorism offenses after police raids in northwest England last week.

Israr Malik, who is 21, is charged with intending to commit violent jihad, or holy war.

Twenty-seven-year-old Matthew Newton, 52-year-old Munir Farooqi and 26-year-old Haris Farooqi are charged with planning to assist others to commit jihad.

Munir Farooqi is also charged with three counts of soliciting or encouraging murder.

All four were arrested November 16 after a police investigation into alleged terrorist activity overseas.

They are scheduled to appear Monday at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court.
