Freight train derails in Houston, Texas

Updated: 2009-11-24 03:05 HOUSTON: A freight train derailed in southwest Houston, Texas, Monday, and no injuries were reported, authorities said. The derailment was reported around 11:30 am, the Houston Fire Department said. More than a dozen cars of the train left the tracks, spilling asphalt and other substances, and shutting down a highway in both directions. Residents in the area were advised to take shelter indoors as emergency crew worked the scene, officials said. |
