ISLAMABAD: Suspected Taliban militants have blown up a private girls school in Pakistan's northwest in their campaign to ban female education, police said Sunday.
The militants had planted two bombs with the building of Iqra Public School in Charsaadda, a district in North West Frontier Province, which exploded late Saturday night.
Two rooms and boundary wall of the school were totally destroyed and the blast also caused damage to other parts of the building.
The militants have destroyed four government schools in the area over the past few months. This is the first time that a private school came under attack.
Charsaadda is located near Mohmand tribal region where the security forces are conducting operation against the militants.
Officials believe that most of the militants have moved to Charsadda from Mohmand area.
