DPRK senior official meets UN special envoy

PYONGYANG: Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) met with visiting special envoy of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, the official news agency KCNA reported on Thursday.

The report didn't mention any details about the meeting.

Foreign Minister Pak Ui Chun met the special envoy on Wednesday.

Lynn Pascoe is the first high-level UN official to visit the country since 2004.

Upon his arrival at Pyongyang's international airport, he told Xinhua that he and DPRK officials would mainly discuss the ways to enhance cooperation between the United Nations and the DPRK.

During his visit to South Korea, he said he "expects to talk about the entire range of issue" while visiting Pyongyang.
