Afghan president Karzai leaves for China

KABUL - Afghan President Hamid Karzai left here for a state visit to China on Tuesday.

"During his three-day tour, President Karzai would hold meetings with Chinese President Hu Jintao, Premier Wen Jiabao and top legislator Wu Bangguo to exchange views on matters pertaining mutual interests," said a statement issued by Afghanistan's Presidential Palace.

Three agreements of cooperation would also be signed during his visit to China, said the statement.

It added that the president would also deliver a speech at Beijing University in addition to meeting Chinese businessmen and discussing investment in Afghanistan.

A high ranking delegation, including the foreign minister, defense minister and 20 businessmen, are accompanying the president in his tour to China, the statement said.
