Addressing the nation in a television program at about 11:00 am local time, Panithan updated the overall situation, including the loss of lives.

In a related development, the website by the Nation newspaper reported that at 10:00 am, officials retrieved the six bodies from inside the temple, while one of them was a woman.

The Pathumwanaram Temple, which is the shelter for the anti- government protestors, especially children, the elderly, and women, is located next to the Rajprasong Intersection in central Bangkok.

Before the anti-government protestors were dispersed on Wednesday afternoon, the Rajprasong Intersection had been occupied by the "red-shirts" protestors since early April.
