TEHRAN - A magnitude-6.1 earthquake on the Richter scale hit southern Iran on Monday, and there were no immediate reports of casualties.

The quake struck at 11:22 GMT in Kazeroon in Iran's southern Fars province, according to the Iranian Seismological Center's website.

The US Geological Survey said the quake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale.

The epicenter, with a depth of 35.30 km, was initially determined to be at 29.6704 degrees north latitude and 51.6557 degrees east longitude.
