Suicide attacks kill 26 in C Afghanistan

KABUL - The death toll of suicide attacks on the provincial governor's office in Parwan provincial capital, 55 km north of Afghan capital Kabul, on Sunday soared to 25 including six attackers, a statement released by the Interior Ministry said.
"In the multiple suicide attacks that targeted the office of Parwan's governor in Charikar city at 11:30 am local time 25 people including six suicide bombers were killed," the statement said.
Fourteen civilian employees of the governor's office and five policemen lost their lives, it said.
Thirty-seven people including 34 civilian staff of the governor 's office and three police were injured in the incident, it added.
One of the suicide bombers riding an explosive-laden car blew himself up at the entrance of the governor's office enabling five comrades to enter the compound, the statement said, adding two more suicide bombers blew themselves up inside the compound; while three others were gunned down by police during the firefight.
Parwan's provincial governor Abdul Basir Salangi survived the attack, according to Tolo television.
This is the second attack on Salangi after a suicide bombing next to his office on June 21 left two people dead.
