JAKARTA - A bridge in Tenggarong town of East Kalimantan (Borneo) has collapsed on Saturday afternoon, killing at least 3 people and seriously wounding 17 others as several cars and motorcycles plunged into the river, top official from local disaster management agency said.
Head of East Kalimantan Disaster Management and Mitigation Agency Fredix Bid told Xinhua over phone that evacuation was underway to search for scores of people missing in the Mahakan river.
The bridge collapsed at 16:20 pm Jakarta time (0920 GMT) when the traffic was busy on it.
"There was about 15 cars and several motorcycles on the bridge when the accident happened," he said.
