5.7-magnitude quake hits Kuril Islands

WASHINGTON - A 5.7-magnitude earthquake jolted Kuril Islands Wednesday morning, the US Geological Survey said.

The quake, which occurred at 0231 GMT, was centered 281 km east of Kuril'sk with a depth of 11.40 km.

No damage or casualties were reported so far.
